Adventures In Potty Training and Go Me!!

Yes... yesterday we started our many adventures of potty training. It was pretty much just trying to get Baily used to the whole concept of sitting on the potty. You can't tell so much from the pictures but every hour I put her on the potty she was all excited and happy to be going "pah-yee." She never actually went but I'm so not going to rush this process- for my sanity and hers. She also likes the idea of wearing big girl diapers- pull-ups. So I'd say it was a successful first day. I'll keep y'all posted on how these adventures continue!

So Baily did pretty well the potty training thing but she was pretty horrible for the rest of the day. I felt like screaming many times yesterday but I held it together. I'm almost certain she's got molars coming in but she won't even let me check to see. I could tell she was miserable though so that helped me to be more sympathetic and not crazy with the tantrums and spitting and hitting. And I'm so glad I didn't have a po-po in the house or I definitely would have given in yesterday.

Yesterday was also weird and I wasn't able to be very productive because the Dish Network was all over in the house and outside yesterday. Robert's brother ordered it for the house because he got some bonus at work to get it for free or something. I have mixed feelings about it. It's nice of his brother to do this for us and very surprising actually. He doesn't help with much around the house so this is a big step for him. And the contract's in his name so we won't have to ever worry about the bill. And it's nice to have so many channels and options, especially for Baily- but it's just a bigger temptation to waste time and to watch crap that takes the Spirit out of our home. I was sad when our cable first got disconnected but I have to say it's been nice having so much extra time that's not being wasted watching tv and also with having Robert spend more time with us. Plus I have noticed an increased measure of the Spirit in our hom. I just hope with this new Dish Network it won't go away and we will be able to resist the temptation to watch too much tv!

Ok... now on to my exciting news. I don't think I mentioned it on here before but after I put in my application for the 911 Operator job I got selected to go on to the testing phase. I was excited about that. Yesterday evening I had my test. It was pretty intense. I spent a lot of time yesterday studying for it- I had to memorize radio codes, phonetic alphabet, priority calls, commonly used abbreviations and stuff like that. It was actually kind of fun to study for something again. I loved school and challenging my brain and it's been so long since I've done that. Anyway I felt really good about taking the test- really prepared. When I got there I was surprised to see about 45 people there. I was not expecting that many. There was sort of an orientation and then a practice test and a couple people left after that because it must have been too much for them or more than they expected. It was really intense and mind challenging testing. I loved it! I ended up finishing about 2nd or 3rd and scored a 96%. I was so excited! I've been scheduled for an interview tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. It really felt good to use my mind again though and to feel good about myself for once. I really think I have what it takes for this job and it will fit me to a T. If you score high enough in your interview you get selected for either polygraph testing right away or you get put on an eligibility list for up to 1 year. And even if you do the polygraph and background check it can still take up to 3 or 4 months to get all that processed. That's good in a way so that I won't have to worry about taking maternity leave and can start after Bubba's born but bad in that we need money now! But I'm going to continue to take this one step at a time, have faith that this is in Heavenly Father's hands and go with the flow. We'll see what happens!

Wow Sarah! Well I will begin with Bailey. I am so proud of her sitting there on the toilet! That's great that she is excited about it. Even if she didn't go potty yet at least she took the first step! Congratulations on your test! I'm so happy for you! That would be a good job for you! Did you use Patty as a referance? Well good luck at your interview!
