Guess what I did today?

Tuesday November 10, 2009- 11.10.9
It's been quite the eventful day for me today. I started off waking up on the wrong side of the bed or something because I was in a bad mood. My poor kids and husband. I wasn't even sure why I was so bitter and frustrated, but I was. I think I just feel burnt out and mad that I'm so unmotivated and feel like I'm falling into a rut again. I don't know- it's just some sort of funk that will hopefully be gone soon. Anyway, after I took my walk and listened to some calming music and got some good prayer and meditation in, I felt much better. I came home and was able to get a lot of paperwork done and finished that I've been working on forever and all the while was able to enjoy this sweet little boy smiling at me. Then I had the pleasant surprise of being able to pick up my brother Jensen and his girlfriend Cadie and their baby Nolan, my nephew, and meeting him for the first time. Then they got to come hang out at our house for a little bit. And let me tell you... it was love at first sight- for me, Baily and Joaquin. He is a little chunker with cheeks that never end. Baily could not get enough of him. She wants a new baby sibling so bad- and I want her to have one so bad. I'm not sure if having this sweet baby in our house helped heal my baby ache or made it increase- definitely made it increase. I long for another baby so bad. Joaquin was sleeping most of the time but when he was awake he thought the baby was so neat and just kept petting his head. He did get a little jealous when I was holding him though. He's still quite the momma's boy. After they all left I spent most of the rest of the day... you guessed it, blogging! I've been wanting to get it caught up for so long that I finally decided that today's the day. I put off keeping my house clean and getting other things done but I really wanted to get this done. I did take breaks to let my kids know I wasn't glued to the chair in front of the computer. I feel a little guilty about not getting much of anything else done but boy does it feel good to finally get something done that I've been meaning to do forever. Now, which is the case with everything with me, if I could just stay caught up it would save me so much grief. After Baily kept begging me to come to bed and doing all sorts of goofy things to get my attention (like the picture on the left) I finally did and enjoyed some sweet cuddle time with her. Man, I love that girl! And man, it feels good to be blogging again!
Discussion Question:
When have you given up a whole day to get something done that's been haunting you and do you feel like it was worth it?

29 Posts Later...

And I'm FINALLY caught up. I shalt not ever get that behind on blogging again. And I don't think I would blame you if you didn't try to check out all 29 posts (seriously- it's taken 29 posts to get caught up);)

When two 4 yr olds have a camera...

Yesterday we had some friends over for a much needed play date... for my kids and me. I have become really good friends with a girl named Brittany from my ward who has 2 girls that are almost the same age as my 2 girls and they love to play together. So they came over yesterday and while the kids had fun playing, us moms had fun socializing and laughing. It was great. Before they left the 2 older girls, my Baily and her Kayla, thought it would be fun to take some pictures. Let's just say I don't foresee them being photographers in the near future. They were giggling the whole time though and sure had fun taking these few pictures!

What to do with a perfect day?!

Why go to the park of course! This past Saturday it was 63 degrees and sunny. It was such a pleasant surprise. I remember moving out here about this time last year and it being FREEZING! It has actually been beautiful for a couple of days now and is supposed to be for the rest of the week. So Baily decided we needed to take advantage of the great weather and have a picnic in the park and it was quite delightful!

A Haunting Halloween

We had a pretty much perfect Halloween this year. I was really bummed that due to lack of finances, we weren't able to carry on our tradition of the whole family dressing up in a theme. But next year's gonna be so awesome it'll make up for this year- so just you watch! We spent the whole month and maybe even a little before that, celebrating Halloween with fun decorations, Halloween crafts & activities, Halloween movies every day and talk of Halloween every day. It's Baily and I's favorite holiday don't ya' know?! We had our ward trunk-or-treat the Wednesday previous to Halloween which I thought was awesome cuz that meant our kids got to use their costumes twice and trick-or-treat twice! Score! The ward party was so fun. There was a chili cook-off that I was bound and determined to win but it was not to be so. I blame it on the fact that I forgot to put it in a crockpot so it wasn't very warm. But the chili that did win was seriously to die for. Anyway, we all had a blast at that party. On Halloween day we spent the day time raking and burning leaves and after that the kids got ready and we went first around our block. All was well and the kids were loving it and having a blast. Then we decided to go with my dad and Patty and Eyan to a bigger, nice neighborhood and somewhere between home and there Baily decided she was mad and gonna be Eeyore. She was not happy. So she stayed in the van with Robert for a bit to cool down while me and little Pooh went trick-or-treating. He LOVED it and I must say it was the cutest thing ever. Everyone just oohed and aahed over how cute the little Pooh was and he just thought it was the best thing ever. Btw- we got their costumes for a combined total of... ready for this?... $5! Goodwill 50%off baby! Anyway, later on Baily decided to join us and finish off the block and then we headed home. We played some spooky hide and go seek in the dark which was so fun and then we all crashed pretty early. It was an awesome Halloween if I do say so myself... which I do;)

Apparently, Baily does not have enough hat-wear in her wardrobe or she wouldn't have to resort to wearing a diaper for a hat.
Every day at our house is dress-up day. On this day Joaquin was the cowboy and Baily was the Princess with a pet "Kitty." Love those imaginations kids!
It's true what they say- one man's trash is another man's treasure. We found this little basketball hoop beauty just waiting to visit the Wisconsin landfills in our neighbor's trash pile. After asking if we could take it, we brought this sweet rig home and it's been played with almost every day since. Nothing like free trash!!
Baily has been quite the little baker lately baking right along side me every week. I'm learning to try to love it. She adores it. Which is why I'm trying to learn to love it;) Anywho, the best part about baking is licking the bowl, right?!

We're so vain...

So maybe I'm rubbing off a little on my girl with the whole vain-ness thing. What can I say... we like to have our pictures taken. Hey- it makes a girl feel good about herself ok?

Fall is Fabulous!

Fall is absolutely, by far, my most favorite season! This being my first Fall in Wisconsin, let me tell you... it did not disappoint! It's been beautiful and I have loved every bit of it!!
