Come what may and love it!

Thursday July 9, 2009
Tuesday was a very, very bad day for me. I won't go into details but just say, again, it was a very, very bad day. Yesterday was much better after some major prayer, some unloading and venting with family and my hubby along with very appreciated consolation and my husband being off all day on Wednesday to help me out. Having the missionaries over and the Spirit they brought helped out a lot as well. Today was pretty blah but I had some personal breakthroughs that I'm very proud of. I was more patient and yelled a lot less with my kids today which makes my heart happy because they are the best kids and do not deserve an unpatient mother and to be yelled at. So today while I was updating the old blog and Baily was at her friend's house playing I realized that Joaquin was being way too quiet. I noticed this way too late. Out comes my sweet boy covered in my lovely shade of Violet Mist lipstick. Lovely. Before I could get mad I was touched by the Spirit and quick to my recollection came the talk from General Conference last fall by Elder Wirthlin called "Come What May And Love It." It was one of those talks that touched me in a way that I will remember it for the rest of my life. I've included the link below so if you have a chance you should really read it or watch it. Anyway, in this talk, Elder Wirthlin talked about trials and ways to face them and one of those ways is to laugh at situations that might otherwise fluster or anger you. This was definitely one of those moments. I am so grateful for that touching moment by the Holy Ghost because as I started to laugh at my boy he quickly swiped his look of fear off his face (he was scared what I was gonna do because he thought for sure he was in trouble) and got this adoring, unforgettable smile on his face. It was such a sweet moment and I'm glad I was able to enjoy it instead of regret yelling or getting angry. Man I love this kid. And I would trade that smile for a Violet Mist tube of lipstick any day!
P.S. I'm going to start including discussion questions at the end of each post to try and generate some good discussion. And yes, that means you have to comment to participate. And yes, this is a way for me to get some comments but really, that's not the only reason. Really. So the question of the day today is:
When was a time you had to laugh about something instead of get mad or frustrated or maybe wish you had laughed about something instead of got mad or frustrated?

Great post Sarah... that last pic of him is priceless. I love it! And I too loved that talk....
One time our little family was running late as usual and everyone was ready, but we were eating dinner (quickly) before we had to leave somewhere, and Kinsey said she had to go potty, so she leaves the table, and I'm saying, okay, but hurry..... so I'm just thinkin she's going #2 but she comes back and sits down to eat like everything is normal, and I look at her and she has a whole face full of makeup. Caked in her eyebrows, just ALL OVER. THat pretend, gross, sticky crap!! I'm like, "oh my GOSH!!!!" Like we needed another set back. But I couldn't help but laugh and take a picture because she just went on like nothing... she just thought she'd put her makeup on before we left like mom...... so Ya... there's my story.
Love ya!

I love the talk "Come what may, and love it." It's gotten me through a lot of tough times. We are still going through a HARD, HARD situation with my husbands empolyment right now. We can't wait for things to be back to the way they were, but maybe things need to be the way they are because of other things that will come from it--
HANG IN THERE!

It was last night. I wish I could've been better last night at Kaily's swimming party. I should have laughed, it really is comical, but I couldn't find the humor in it then.

The credit union I work for just went through a major system conversion and EVERYONE had to report to work at 3:30 a.m. In my opinion that's still the middle of the night. We were closed for business the next day but we were all "working" until about 1:00 in the afternoon when we found out that all the work we had done had to be done over again...starting at 10:00 p.m. that same night. I finished my work early and got to leave at about 4:45 the next morning. Not fun as I was 12 weeks pregnant suffering from major food aversions, nausea, exhaustion, etc. When I got home I went to tell Carson I was home and when i touched him on the leg to wake him, he sat up screaming and hollaring and swinging like he was going to knock out his attacker. I was soooo not equipped to deal at that moment and I yelled back, "It's just me! Holy Cow!!" Made him feel like trash I'm sure. Laughing at him would have made a much better memory...

Alright..Come what may and love it eh?...Well, Eben and I left a lot later than we expected for our honey moon on our wedding night. We had to drive to a town called Eden, which was about 2 hours away. Of course the whole drive there was, uh...well...lets say....tense. So we finally get there, which was a timeshare place that Eben's mom let us have, and the main office is closed. Well the main office had the keys and directions to get into and to our room.....and they were closed. So for about 15 minutes we sat in the car....I was, lets just say frustrated. Eben was laughing ironically and commented "We can sleep in the car." We were out in the middle of nowhere...no hotels, and subzero temperatures...the car just wasn't an option, in my mind anyways. But after 15 minutes another couple drives up, gets out of the car, goes next to the office doors where there is a yellow metal box, opens the box and pulls out an envelope and go along their mary way. So of course in an act of desperation I jumped out of the car, went to this mysterious yellow box, and sure enough, there were our keys and directions. The end. Come what may and love it.
