Failure

Tuesday May 6, 2008

So yesterday was a bit of a rough one. It wasn't horrible but a bit rough. I had a bright idea to start potty training again yesterday. The approach I tried this time was to not make it stressful and just to put Baily in panties and help her get used to the idea of what it felt like to go potty. My calm demeanor helped in making her feel more excited about it and more willing to try wish was progress as she didn't want anything to do with it in my previous attempts. I stayed calm and supportive and encouraging up until about the 5th pair of panties and accident. I could tell that she was trying to keep it in because she would only go a little bit and then stop herself. But while I was in the shower she couldn't hold it anymore, and even though I took her on the potty a ton of times she just wouldn't go on the potty. I don't know if it was scary for her or what but as soon as I got her off the toilet she would start peeing again and then stopping. But yeah, when I was in the shower she couldn't hold it any longer and ended up peeing everywhere. I guess I'm gonna just have to take my shower early in the morning before she's awake while potty training. But I was pretty frustrated by this point. Even though I felt like yelling and screaming I didn't. So that was good for me. However, instead of sticking with it, I gave up and put her in a diaper. How is she ever supposed to get trained if I'm not consistent and don't stick with it after getting too frustrated after only one day?! So I was having difficulty with major feelings of failure and then like my emotions always do, I just have a chain reaction. I felt like a failure since I can't finish my BFL plan. I felt like a failure for not writing my mom like I want to. And so on and so forth. Frustrating. Sorry for the sob story. Anyway, besides the feelings of failure the rest of the day was ok. I got to sit and watch Idol which I haven't done in a few weeks. I loved the 2 Davids but especially my David Archuleta. I loved both of the songs he sang. And we ended the night with family scripture and prayer which is always a great way to end the day. I need to learn to stop being so hard on myself and just CHILL! I will get better. I actually am getting better and feeling better... really... I am;)

Ole!

Monday May 5, 2008
Monday was happy Cinco De Mayo! It really wasn't all that exciting but I figure any reason to have Mexican food in celebration is a good holiday in my book. I woke up feeling motivated to get back on the BFL bandwagon and having a productive week. So I got up, went to the gym and was hit with a mean dose of reality. I was super weak and did not feel well at all. I realized it was probably that I still had a viral infection from my abscesses since I wasn't being too diligent about taking my medication but I still did half of my work out and felt good about doing that at least. Then when I got home and went on through the day, I ate clean for my first 3 meals and bam- I was hit with some sort of emotional attack. I can't wait until I finally get into the Dr. to get some meds for this. It's driving me crazy! I lost all motivation to re-start my program and on came the emotional eating. Not good. I later realized I was going through major PMS but that's so not a good excuse in my book. I should be able to have more self-control and discipline. Anyway, I did manage to get the house picked up and some laundry done and also re-start my BOM reading plan. Yes... I re-started again. But I decided to not push myself too hard and keep it at only one chapter a day with a goal of finishing by Dec. 29th- by the end of the year. It was hard for me to let go of my other reading goals but I feel like this is more doable for me and therefore more beneficial. Baily and I watched Dancing With The Stars and that was fun. She even went and got her "pretty" shoes and danced along. It was so cute. Robert brought home some Mexican food from a local restaurant (can't remember what it's called) and it was pretty ok. Not too good but not too bad. The chips and salsa were good. The rest of the night went lovely and that's how our Cinco De Mayo went. Ole!

Baily 32 Months May 4, 2008

* She wears 2T-3T and a size 3 diaper
* She's still not potty trained.
*She sleeps in her own bed as long as one of us falls asleep with her and then sneaks out. She still gets up about once a night though and has to be taken back to her bed.
* She insists on dressing herself.
* This article about "I Do It" fits her to a T at the moment and explains how I feel.
* She loves watching all sorts of movies and only wants to do it on her own. We have very dirty DVD's lately.
* She says "gosha dangit" when she gets frustrated
* When I get mad she tells me "don't yell or I will smack your mouth mom."
* Time out seems to be working as a good means of disciplining her.
* She loves to count to 10 in English and Spanish (she has to have help though- can't do it on her own quite yet)
* She knows all her colors
* She's a little anti-social these days
* She gets a little jealous of how much attention her brother gets sometimes and starts acting like a baby
* She loves her brother so much and calls him "chunkers" or "keen"
* She's not on a schedule or routine and really needs to be on one.
* She's not eating very well these days- a small appetite
* She loves the carousel
* She loves playing with towels and blankets-folding and spreading them out...she could do it for hours
* She loves to color and is starting to color inside the lines
* Her tantrums are starting to not last as long- hallelujah!

Mmm, Mmm, Good

Sunday May 4, 2008
Sunday was good and not so good. I woke up really tired and feeling very unmotivated. Instead of going to church and following through on all my good intentions I chose not to. Gerald and Rachelle offered to take us out to eat at Cracker Barrel and even offered to wait until we got home from church. This was after I offered to make them dinner which I didn't do. But instead of going to church I ditched. So I felt guilty about that. But I do not feel guilty about going out to eat with them. They are so generous and it's always nice to spend time with them- to be around my family since I don't get too very often. And can I just tell you that I LOVE Cracker Barrel. This was my first time ever going and I will definetly go again. Mmm, mmm good is what I'm sayin'! After we finished eating we said our goodbyes. They headed to run some errands and then back home up the mountain. We went to see Robert's mom and hang out with his family for a bit and that was fun. We hadn't seen them in a while either so it was good to see them and visit. And after that we came home and chilled. And that was our Sunday for you. Not too shabby.
